Question by M Boy: Why is there always "added water" in White meat such as Chicken and Turkey? Surely it can't be good for you? Even 100% breast meat sometimes says "added water". Why is this? Best answer for Why is there always "added water" in White meat such as Chicken and Turkey?:

Answer by atroposwhispered
Probably to keep it moist.

Answer by gemhom88
they mainly use it to bulk it up and make it look like your getting more!! but to be honest i prefer this as it does make it really moist.

Answer by fifi
it probably means it has been washed at the abituar.as the wash everything when it is cut up.

Answer by Owen
Depends upon how cynical you are. There are probably chemicals in the water that help keep the meat moist and add flavor. How much a pound are you spending? on water? (cynical answer)

Answer by Jewel
The meat is injected with water or brine to keep it moist and add bulk.

Answer by Cowgirl_Power
It's not bad for you it's just a way for companies to be able drive up the prices, and charge 2.79 or what oef for extra water. But they will sell it as the fact that is will b juicier, it will always be juicy if you don't over cook it.

Answer by Corvato
the problem is you are purchasing deli or other processed meats. just buy frozen or fresh chicken, turkey, or other meat, roast and slice it yourself, then you pay for no added water, pay less usually, and have a better tasting product.

Answer by Hello Kitty
is this in a can? if so, its to preserve the chicken and keep it moist. if this is in a package...? its probably processed. meat swells up, making it more robust.
