Question by momsy: Is drinking "cold water" after a meal bad for the health? "Cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine . Very soon, this will turn into fats and may lead to cancer." = is this statement true? Best answer for Is drinking "cold water" after a meal bad for the health?:

Answer by Annette J
No, it has no basis in fact. Your body warms up the water when you drink it anyway. Let's assume for a moment that the oil does solidify when you drink cold water (it doesn't) - it doesn't make any sort of medical sense that "sludge" will be absorbed any faster than liquid fat (oil). Liquid is easier to absorb than a semi-solid. Drink whatever temperature water makes you happy. Cold water burns more calories because your body has to heat it up.
