No, it has no basis in fact. Your body warms up the water when you drink it anyway. Let's assume for a moment that the oil does solidify when you drink cold water (it doesn't) - it doesn't make any sort of medical sense that "sludge" will be absorbed any faster than liquid fat (oil). Liquid is easier to absorb than a semi-solid. Drink whatever temperature water makes you happy. Cold water burns more calories because your body has to heat it up.
