Question by James P: Is it true that the phrase "walked on water" is translated too literally? I heard that it describes the actions of someone that walks out over the water on a dock to prophesy (to such as the fishermen as they repaired their nets or sailors as they readied for the next voyage). If so, it actually makes the story of "Jesus Christ" more believable, why does everything surrounding his supposed existence have to be so magical? Best answer for Is it true that the phrase "walked on water" is translated too literally?:

Jesus is compiled together from various myths and belief systems. Did you know it's possible to walk on custard?

Jesus created the water, so he has command over it. He walked on the water with no dock under him. The disciple also walked on water until he lost his faith. You are looking at it from the human perspective, Jesus is God.

Jesus is they symbol of the sun. The suns ray dances across the ocean. Sun in the Age of Pisces Or he managed to waddle his ass across ice and not fall.

If they meant to say----Jesus walked out on the dock---to seek the disciples I am sure it would have said that. And if the disciple stepped out on the dock would he have started drowning? I think not. I believe that all of the laws of gravity were suspended when the creator took a walk. Why would it be more believable if we thought it was a dock. Why would the disciples have been concerned if they were tied up to the dock? God Bless America

Answer by Yah man
I never heard of that one, but Mark is a source for a large part of the other gospels, and the author of mark, as was the authors of Paul letters (Tarsus was known as the "capitol" of many pagan religions) and they were into Hellenistic and eastern pagan mystery religions. They believed in ghosts, demonic spirits & possession, devils, shamanism, magic, magi, astrology, numerology, apocalypses, revelation, gnosis and secret teachings, etc. That is just what the early followers of Jesus believed.

The space shuttle Endeavour. Brought to you by Toyota?

This week, when NASA's recently retired shuttle makes the last leg of its long journey from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the California Science Center in Los Angeles' Exposition Park, it will be hauled part of the way over a freeway by a Toyota Tundra truck.

It's a scene that seems made for a Toyota commercial. And it may well end up in one. The carmaker plans to film the truck as it tows the massive shuttle.

That a Japanese automaker is hauling the American space shuttle naturally makes it a political issue this election season.

"Barack Obama acts as if he singlehandedly built the U.S. domestic auto industry. Meanwhile, a symbol of American greatness will be towed to its final resting place by a foreign competitor, forever cementing the image of a Toyota truck towing a retired space shuttle," Matt Frendewey, director of communications for the Michigan Republican Party, said in September.

It should be pointed out that Toyota's U.S. headquarters are in Torrance near Los Angeles, and the automaker has a long history of philanthropy at the Science Center.

Collector cars hotter this year

Here's an example of just how hot the collector car market has become this year:

Santa Monica, Calif., auction house Gooding has completed its 2012 auction season and reported sales of $ 189.6 million, an average of $ 640,635 for each of the 296 cars sold. The total is 44% higher than last year's results, which also included 296 cars.

The auction house said the increase demonstrates the rising demand for collector cars as well as the selection of coveted vehicles compiled by Gooding this year.

David Gooding, president of the company, expects collectors in 2013 will show more interest in historic prewar cars and post-World War II European sports cars.

The auction house's top two sales this year were the 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster that sold for $ 11.8 million, a record for both a Mercedes-Benz and a prewar car at auction, and the 1960 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione that sold for $ 11.3 million, a record for a Ferrari California Spider at auction.

Both cars were sold at the Pebble Beach Auctions in August, in association with the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and rank as the world's top two most valuable cars sold at auction to date this year.
